What EU ecommerce law changes take effect in 2026?

The main ones are: the withdrawal button (Directive EU 2023/2673, from 19 June 2026) and the packaging regulation PPWR with EPR registration (from 12 August 2026). GPSR, the AI Act, Omnibus (30-day lowest price) and VAT OSS for cross-border sales already apply.

What is the withdrawal button required from June 2026?

It is a requirement of Directive (EU) 2023/2673: if a consumer can conclude a contract online, from 19 June 2026 they must be able to withdraw just as easily, with one click. It also applies to non-EU traders targeting consumers in the EU.

What is PPWR and when does it apply?
